How we came to be

Hammered Rocks Mosaic Studio began its professional artisanal journey officially on 17 December 2020 as an independent studio. The studio's main focus is collaborations with local artists and designers to explore mosaic as an alternative creative expression.

The owner, previously a mosaic studio manager at an art academy, is experienced in sharing this skill through classes especially designed for the enthusiastic beginner to the rusty or experimental professional needing guidance. Having lectured in mosaic Material Knowledge, mosaic Colour Theory and Basic Technical Drawing, the attending student has full access to this information during the limited courses offered.

The studio, currently situated in the HUB Studios space, an active creative space where the public is able to see current commissions in progress. HUB Studios is situated at 25 Commercial Street, Cape Town and administered by Spier Arts Trust.
